Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Challenge Media, LLC (“Rheta,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Rheta Chrome extension, our API, and our website (collectively, the “Services”).
1. What Rheta is
Rheta helps users analyze text (for example, web articles) by sending user-provided text to our hosted backend for processing and returning results.
2. Information we collect
A. App Key and usage information
- App Key: We use an App Key to authenticate requests. We may store the App Key (or a hashed form of it) and associate it with credit balances and basic operational records.
- Service usage data: We may collect basic telemetry such as request timestamps, endpoint usage, error logs, rate-limit events, and high-level metadata needed to operate the Service (for example, request size, response time).
- IP address and device information: Our servers may receive your IP address and standard device or browser information in server logs.
B. Text you submit for analysis
When you use Rheta to analyze text, the text you choose to submit is sent to our servers to produce results.
- We process this text to provide the analysis output.
- We do not require you to create an account to use the extension.
Important: Do not submit sensitive personal information or confidential data unless you are comfortable with it being processed by our systems and service providers.
C. Payment information (handled by Stripe)
When you purchase credits, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers. We may receive limited information from Stripe such as payment status, the amount purchased, and identifiers needed to match a payment to an App Key or order.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide and operate the Services, including authenticating requests via App Key and debiting credits.
- Process text submitted for analysis and return results.
- Prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- Maintain performance, reliability, and debugging.
- Communicate with you about support requests, product updates, and service changes.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We may share information with:
- Service providers that help us run the Services (for example hosting, logging, analytics, customer support tools).
- Payment processor (Stripe) to process purchases and manage payments.
- Legal and safety reasons, if we believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transfers if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal information in the conventional sense.
5. Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to operate the Services and for legitimate business purposes such as security, dispute resolution, and compliance.
For submitted text:
- We may retain submitted text briefly for processing and debugging.
- If we store it beyond immediate processing, it will be limited and purpose-driven (for example, fraud prevention or troubleshooting).
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete, or correct personal information we hold about you.
Because Rheta may not use accounts, we may ask you to verify control of an App Key to locate any associated records.

8. Children’s privacy
The Services are not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International users
If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where we and our service providers operate.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top indicates when it was last revised.
